UNLV Percussion
& Moving Lights
Featuring Mexican Marimba Virtuoso
Javier Nandayapa
This 75-minute concert is a sensory journey through uncharted realms of sound created entirely by percussion instruments. Dynamic lighting sequences, individually programmed for each musical work creates a stunningly immersive environment from start to finish.
For our 17th Annual Collaboration, we celebrate the career of Maestro Javier Nandayapa from the storied Nandayapa family of Mexican marimba makers and virtuoso players. In addition, we feature the works of Mexican composer Caesar Gonzales, and works by Colombian-American faculty composer Dr. Diego Vega.
Truly in a class of its own, this annual Black Box collaboration is the only experience of its kind at UNLV.
